Tuesday last, the 5th of February, Belgian-Irish business networking organisation Beleire held their annual drink with us in the Auditorium of the Irish college. Their first event of 2019, the annual drink gave members both new and old their first opportunity to meet up, thank outgoing president Guy Ooms, but also it was a chance for them to be properly introduced to the organisations new Head Gareth Mc Greal and their new Secretary, the Irish Colleges very own David Grant.
The keynote speaker on the night was Joris Brams, Managing Director with the C&C Group PLC and the man behind the recent revival of Heverlee beer. Joris talked about how it feels to lead an Irish company, the difficulties behind creating a Belgian beer brand for the International market and the works that are going on at the Abbey in Heverlee.
New Secretary David Grant and new President Gareth Mc Greal were then introduced before Irish Ambassador to Belgium and Beleire Patron, Helena Nolan, who was also in attendance on the night praised Beleire for their work, spoke about the importance of building stronger Irish-Belgian connections and thanked Guy Ooms for his years of work in helping to do just that.
Finally it was time for guests to network the night away over some beverages, graciously provided by C&C and some Belgian Beerballs to fill any hungry stomachs from the busy evening of events. Here's to a wonderful 2019 for all at Beleire from everyone here at the Leuven Institute for Ireland in Europe!
